Centrifuge Buckets and Inserts

Depending on what the speed and type of vessel used, it is often necessary to select the correct bucket and inserts when purchasing a laboratory centrifuge.

The term bucket refers to the container used with a swing-out centrifuge rotor.

Buckets are then filled with the appropriate insert, sometimes called adapter, to support the vessels being spun in the centrifuge.

Inserts are also used with fixed angle rotors and serve as a reducing adapter to allow smaller sized vessels to be used with higher-speed rotors.

Be sure to take note if an insert is designed for conical or round bottom tubes. It makes a big difference.
